The Elkhorn Youth Girls Basketball Club provides girls in grades 4 through 8 an opportunity to participate in a basketball program that has a higher level of skill and competition.
- 4th Grade - Our focus is to introduce young players to team play with friends and classmates.
- 5th Grade - Our coaches will teach teamwork, good sportsmanship and an overall better understanding of the game of basketball. By the end of the season our goal is for the girls to have a sound understanding of all terms related to playing the game of basketball, improved basic skills and success on the court.
- 6th Grade - The sixth grade girl’s basketball program seeks to build on the fundamentals learned in previous years. Coaches will incorporate ball handling, passing, screening, triple threat position, and defensive skills at a higher level. Coaches will review game situations for better understanding. Life skills such as teamwork, sportsmanship, respect and self-confidence are emphasized. Our teams and coaches are dedicated to working hard and having fun at the same time during practice.
- 7th Grade - The seventh grade girl’s basketball program will build upon the skills developed in the prior years. Passing, shooting, ball-handling and defensive skills and techniques will be refined and sharpened. We will focus on teamwork, good sportsmanship and an overall better understanding of game concepts and strategies. The girls will be exposed to various types of offensive and defensive schemes. Team strategies to adapt and succeed against these schemes will be emphasized.
- 8th Grade - The eighth grade girl’s basketball program will build upon the skills developed in the prior years and prepare them, both physically and mentally, for high school basketball. We will create a climate that fosters the development of skill and sportsmanship by striving for excellence, establishing an optimistic philosophy and becoming positive role models.
